Intakes
Intakes must be paid the same attention as the other internals. The inlet of gas, liquid or even both of them (flashing feed) may initiate a malfunction.
Liquid inlet
Liquid inlets have to distribute the liquid to boxes or toughs equally. The liquid may not leave the pipes/boxes with to high kinematic energy.
Gas inlet
The larger the diameter of the column, the higher the gas inlet velocities and the less the pressure drop of the internals: the higher the importance of gas inlet devices.
